The World of the Veil

Places

New Denver, Colorado: Built on the site of the original city of Denver, Colorado, which was leveled by Otherworld forces in the Veil War of 2116-2143. Population 1.5 million, mixed races. Home of one of the North American poles of the Veil. Considered one of the most advanced "recovered cities" in the world, it is a center of multi-species culture, art, music and industry.

The Milani Motherhouse/Serenity Towers: A 77 story ultra-modern tower in downtown New Denver that houses the transported recreation of the Milani Motherhouse, along with over 2000 vampires of the clan and their entourages. It is considered a prototype self-contained community and is protected by secret, ancient magicks and top of the line mundane security systems envied by the outside world. It is the seat of civilized vampire politics and commerce.

Grey Rock Pack Territory: Located 3 hours outside of New Denver, a heavily forested area in the Rocky Mountains, occupied by one of the largest packs of werewolves in the western US. Led by Alpha Bartholomew Elbert, the blood uncle of Joe Calloway.

Groups/Species in the World of the Veil

"Civilized" Species - those that live under the rule of law:

Humans

Vampires

Shapeshifters

Witches/Wizards

"Uncivilized" Species - lawless creatures, many are dangerous to human beings. Some actively hunt, others avoid human contact and live on what wildlife they can hunt in their secluded homes. The former are actively pursued by human law enforcement, the latter are treated like wild animals -- left alone if they do no harm, destroyed if they attack humans.

Flesheaters - creatures that were once human, but were contaminated by a disease brought from the Otherworld that makes them hunger for human flesh. They resemble zombies in behavior.

Demons - a coverall term for countless species of Otherworld creatures that tend toward violence
